Opening up streets to bike/ped use during the shutdown

Dear Councilmembers, You may have heard that Oakland (and other cities) are providing more opportunities for their residents to walk and bike by closing streets to through traffic: Cities Close Streets to Cars, Opening Space for Social Distancing https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/11/us/coronavirus-street-closures.htm With spring weather upon us and very light traffic, it seems like something the city could implement on a few select streets. These restrictions are temporary and simply require a few cones and a sign: https://www.motherjones.com/environment/2020/04/oakland-open-streets-pedestrians/ One potential candidate would be the stretch of Alma between Ravenswood and the bike/ped bridge to Palo Alto. There are quite a few pedestrians and bicyclists using it already, and it is quite wide, so it could accommodate a lot of people. Thanks for considering this action to help people get exercise and practice safe distancing during these anxious times.
