Dear City Council, We understand you are entering negotiations with the unions regarding raises for city employees. As you well know many of the businesses in Menlo Park have been closed ( by government decree). As such there are hundreds of Menlo Park employees who have lost their jobs and numerous businesses will be closing their doors. It’s probable that many of these businesses and jobs are gone for good. At the same time it’s certain that a large chunk of tax revenues that normally flow to the city will be lost as well. Who knows when city tax revenues will return to past levels. Now is the time to get tough with the unions and get our city payroll and pensions under control. Layoffs are a certainty and it is up to you as our city representative to behave responsibly. Thank you.
