Thanks, Betsy. I have a couple of thoughts about the gas-powered blower
ban.
While it would be great to ban all blowers to eliminate the dust they
generate, that isn't practical. Even I use a small, battery-powered
blower on my gravel where a rake doesn't cut it. I use a broom
everywhere else.
But blowers aren't the only source of air and noise pollution. The
gas-powered grass trimmers and hedge trimmers are even louder. I would
include them in the ban.
I would also encourage the elimination of all gas-powered tools such as
chainsaws. Since they are less frequent, a ban might be too much, but
perhaps a financial incentive could be given.
Thanks, all.

The proposed project would construct 116 for-sale town homes and a 316-unit rental apartment building, for a total of 432 dwelling units. The project site currently consists of five existing office and industrial buildings totaling 103,900 square feet that would be demolished. The proposed project would include a below market rate housing agreement that requires a minimum of 15 percent (or 66 units) be affordable. The proposal includes a request for an increase in height and gross floor area under the bonus level development allowance in exchange for community amenities. More information about the project is available on the city’s 123 Independence Drive project page.
