Information about Sept. 24 event honoring "The Peace Gate" sculpture at the Menlo College campus

We hope that other members of the council will join
Ray Mueller at the event to view the sculpture and meet Lisa Solomon (artist who conceived the project) and Jim Gilandi (who constructed the framework of the redwood Torii gate, upon which the artist has hung some of the over 2000 paper cranes made by Menlo Park and other peninsula volunteers in last year's art installation for the anniversary of Hiroshima/Nagasaki that I organized with the gallery owner Katharina Bernau, who also founded the Menlo Park Public are non-profit.
This sculpture powerful and peaceful links to the city and our Mayors Ohtaki, Mueller, Carlton (who founded our past Sister City program) and Taylor who all supported resolutions for peace and an end to nuclear weapons. Please join us this Friday (City Hall is closed) 11am to 11:45.

See event flyer, attached. Those who attend event have a free pass for the rest of the day on the 24th to explore the more than 30 other large sculptures dotting the campus groundsl

Yours in Peace,
