As a former resident of Cook County, Illinois, I know only too well the crushing effects on resident tax payers from governments caving in again and again to union and employee demands that make no sense for the fiscal wellbeing of the community. This is the time to exercise restraint - pare down the number of employees, stop salary increases and union demands. We simply can’t afford it! If our city fathers can’t even come up with the funding for much needed downtown parking structures we sure cannot take on more employee costs.
