Dear City Manager, public engagement staff, Mayor and City Council, The upcoming budget discussion on Tuesday includes some difficult decisions regarding city services, and especially for Belle Haven where there are decisions about city services relating to the construction of the new community/senior center. Because of the impacts of these decisions, the extra outreach challenges caused by the pandemic, language needs and the digital divide, it is important for the city to be doing extra outreach to reach Belle Haven residents, especially seniors and non-English speakers. This outreach may already be under way - we urge you to ensure that special outreach is being done. Suggestions from our Belle Haven participants include: * use phone tree and text outreach * include handouts in meal packets that seniors are delivered * communicate to parents through parks and rec contact lists * flyers in public places The communication should be in English and Spanish. The communication should describe how to contact city council and participate in remote meetings for people who may have telephones but but not internet access.
