Support for reopening 800 block Santa Cruz Ave eastbound lane

Dear Menlo Park City Council,

I'm writing to voice my support for reopening the 800 block of Santa Cruz Ave (between Evelyn and Crane St) to eastbound car and bike traffic.
The only restaurant on that block that is using the street for dining is Galata Bistro, and they have only temporary tables in the street. Most of their dining tables are in the parklet platform over the parking spaces. The other eating establishments on that block all do not use the street: Posh Bagel, Subway, Baskin-Robins. The parklets can remain for outdoor dining, but the car lane should be reopened for automotive and bike travel in the eastbound direction. Bicyclists could ride on the street instead of having to walk on the sidewalk, or worse yet, to ride in the wrong direction.

For travelers going eastbound through downtown, by reopening the 800 block, they do not need to divert to Menlo Ave until they reach Curtis St. This allows them more access to a greater portion of the merchants on Santa Cruz Ave.

My comments do not relate to the 600 block of Santa Cruz Ave (between Curtis and Doyle St). That block can remain as is for the time being, as there is more street dining on that block.

Thank you,
