Dear City Counsel of Menlo Park, I am writing to ask for your support in retaining the irreplaceable value that the Menlo Children Center brings to our city and community. Children at MCC spend their days in a stimulating educational environment that prepares them for life, while building the community for many new residents like ourselves. MCC high-quality care, location and professional staff creates a unique value proposition for middle-income households in the region, enabling families to look for the continued education of our children in Menlo Park instead of having to seek alternatives elsewhere. Our children are now sheltering in place like the rest of us. They can’t fully grasp what is happening, but they do look forward to when they will reunite with their friends, teachers and School. Budget balance should not be the priority at the time of the Pandemic. Cancelling essential services like children care is the worst possible place to start, forcing families to look for care outside our city at a time when every family is struggling to return to a new normal.
