Housing associated with Office Complexes under review

Dear Mayor Combs and City Council Members:

Below are office complexes under review. Kindly let me know what your
position is regarding these developers providing housing for all these
additional employees they would need to bring on board.

Enlightening me and other Menlo Park residents on this matter will be much
appreciated.

*OFFICE PROJECTS UNDER REVIEW: PROJECTS*



*A. 1030 OBrien Dr. (DOESN’T SHOW HOUSING BEING PROVIDED)
*

R & M Properties has submitted an application to construct a new
three-story research and development building, totaling 67,688 square feet
in size, of which 5,787 square feet is proposed for a ground level
commercial space in the Life Science (L-S) zoning district.


*STATUS:* City staff is currently evaluating the proposal for compliance
with City municipal code, ordinances, policies and general plan.



*B. 1125 OBrien Dr. (DOESN’T SHOW HOUSING BEING PROVIDED)
*

Tarlton Properties has submitted an application to construct a new
five-story research and development (R&D) building, approximately 131,285
square feet in size, with a surface parking lot. An approximately 2,760
square-foot café would be located on the ground level of the R&D building
with an entrance off a proposed pedestrian plaza at the front of the site.


*STATUS:* The project was scheduled for review and action by the Planning
Commission on September 11, 2023, but has been continued to a future date
at the applicants request.



*C. Commonwealth Building 3 (DOESN’T SHOW HOUSING BEING PROVIDED)
*

The Sobrato Organization has submitted an application to construct a new
249,500 square-foot, four-story office building and a new four-level
parking structure with approximately 1,340 spaces at 162-164 Jefferson Dr.


*STATUS:* A *draft environmental impact report(PDF, 47MB)*

(Draft
EIR) has been released along with a notice of availability for the proposed
project and the City accepted comments on the Draft EIR through Monday,
August 15, 2022. Staff is currently in the process of preparing a response
to comments document otherwise known as the Final Environmental Impact
Report (FEIR). Staff is also anticipates receiving an updated project
submittal from the applicant in responding to the comments provided during
the last project compliance review.



*D. CSBio Phase 3 (DOESN’T SHOW HOUSING BEING PROVIDED)
*

CSBio has submitted an application to construct a new seven-story office
and research and development building with a ground-floor restaurant,
partially demolish an existing office and R&D building and construct a new
five-story parking structure.


*STATUS:* The project has been placed on hold. Staff updates this project
webpage with latest project related updates.
