Program reduction concerning MCC

Dear city council members, I am a parent with 2 kids attending Menlo Children Center. When I saw that MCC was on the tier 2 list for potential cut, it was such a disappointment. We explained to our children about the coronavirus, so they understand they can't attend in the time being. However, they look forward to go back as soon as MCC reopens again. The quality childcare which MCC provides is invaluable for both the parents and the children. I can confidently say that all the parents can attest to that. I am well aware of the financial impact of the covid 19 crisis. I understand the need to balance the budget for local government. However, not all budget cut are equal and the impact of MCC closure can have ripple effect on the community. Unlike cutting the hours of library, most people will just borrow books online. How do you replace a quality and trusted childcare option in the community? Please reconsider other ways to manage the financial aspect of the crisis. Closure of MCC would for certain worsen the impact to the community. Thank you for time. Best regards, Wing Pui Menlo Park resident Received on Mon May 11 2020 - 22:50:45 PDT
