City of Menlo Park Child Care Impact

Dear Menlo Park City Council, As a parent and resident of Menlo Park I noticed that today’s agenda has a very important topic and that is to possibly eliminate the Menlo Park Children's Center? My understanding is to relieve the city budget that has affected the city over Covid-19 but eliminating this program will actually cause a bigger impact in our residence in Menlo Park. Right now our children are at home with no childcare and there’s a possibility that there might be overcrowding of classrooms when school resumes and the classrooms might need to be break in half. This new world we’re living in now, makes for more resources to be available to render the kids in the local school district. There may not be enough staff and teachers in our school district to facilitate learning while social distancing. Why should you illuminate the few resources we have for our children and the city of Menlo Park. As a resident of Menlo Park, I would urge to consider a different city service to be eliminated because my two children have both attended MCC and I can’t express enough how difficult it is now to do our jobs and take care of our children at the same. My children have always been safe with your city staff members and that’s why I only trust them with my children. Please save the few child care programs that the city of Menlo Park can provide. I can’t stress enough how much your city teachers and members have taken care of our children. I have always refers our new neighbors to your city programs. Thanks for your time. Sincerely, Jose Rodriguez Received on Tue May 12 2020 - 13:27:14 PDT
