Dear Menlo Park City Council, Good afternoon. Thank you for your service to our community. I write to urge strongly NOT to reduce or eliminate the MP gymnastics program. My daughter took classes there from grades 3-12 and progressed from intro classes to the competitive team. MP gymnastics runs a wonderful developmental program that works for all levels of gymnastics and ages. The program teaches gymnastics and physical fitness classes and skills in a supportive, nurturing environment. Many gymnastics studios and programs are highly competitive and require huge investments of time and money on the part of the gymnast and their family. MP gymnastics provides a wonderful alternative that is both more manageable in terms of time and cost and more supportive in terms of teaching and coaching. The coaches and teachers in the program bring a nurturing and developmental perspective. Their supportive approach provides a welcome contrast to many hyper-competitive gymnastics programs. The program has introduced many generations of childre n to gymnastics from their tumbling classes for toddlers, their adaptive programs for special needs kids, progressive gymnastics skills classes to their competitive teams, to their adult classes.
