Dear Members of the City Council, I know there are good reasons for cutting the budget for EV chargers (other funds may well become available), but such a steep cut (80%!) in climate-related funds is not looking into the future at issues that are sure to be even larger than the current global pandemic. We need every bit of leverage that we can muster to mitigate the coming climate catastrophes. Using more of the climate-related funds for sustainable housing and transportation can create jobs that can make our communities both more resilient in recovering from the current pandemic while also—at the same time!—addressing climate issues.
