City Council- It is time for the voices of the youth and of those who care to be heard. We are urging you not to cut the sustainability budget by any amount for the upcoming year. Adequate funding is essential for significant action to be taken. We are a community, within a county, within a state, within a country we have the power to make a difference. We have the power to be the first snowball to go rolling down the hill of climate mitigation, we can set this into effect and be the change. I don't live in a Menlo Park but the city is close to my hometown, Redwood City, all of these regions need to come together not fall apart. Cutting the upcoming years sustainability budget is just giving another point to politicians and climate change deniers around the world, we need to stand up and make the difference that is necessary to save the planet for future generations. I am only 17 years old, and when I look into the future I do not see myself having children. I do not want a child to grow up in some foreign land of significant pollution and beaches that begin in Palo Alto. I'm not sure about where the money from this budget would be going but I can assure you that protecting our climate is 100 times more important, we have one planet that our species has adapted to over millennia, protecting it is the least we could do. So, I urge you to not cut the sustainability budget. Do it for the children of your children, and the children of your grand-children. Do the right thing. Make a political power move.
