City Council Members: I am writing to express support for a reopening of city recreational facilities per the San Mateo County and CDC-approved guidelines. In particular, I ask that you consider a safe reopening to the Burgess pool (instructional and recreational) and also the use of baseball facilities at Burgess and Holbrook Palmer parks by the Legends baseball camp. I have spent time reading through the CDC guidelines and understand that many modifications and restrictions will need to be put in place in order to support the safety of our community. I believe that both Tim Sheeper (Menlo Swim and Sport) and David Klein (Legends Baseball camp) are taking these guidelines seriously and have proposed changes to their programs that will accommodate the requirements of the CDC and the county of San Mateo. While I recognize that the reopening of these facilities will require a huge amount of effort on the part of City staff, I also believe that this can be done safely and in collaboration with vendors like Tim Sheeper and David Klein, both of whom have a long history with the City. Thank you for considering this request. Please feel free to reach out with any questions - 415-307-8277. Witney McKiernan 286 San Luis Drive, Menlo Park Received on Tue May 26 2020 - 09:26:28 PDT
