DANGEROUS DRIVER& SITUATION AT SAND HILL/SANTA CRUZ
Around 1 pm today I drove from Santa Cruz Ave through theSand Hill intersection towards Alpine Road. I was in the right hand lane about 2nd or 3rdcar in line behind the Alpine intersection traffic lights and next to the bike lane. When the Alpine light turned green Iproceeded towards Portola Valley. All of a sudden a black Nissan contractor’struck with a rack, license #19579U1, raced tomy right in the bike lane to overtake me. I had to slam on my brakes because he came within centimeters of hittingme. Then he raced up Alpine towards PortolaValley.
This is not the first time that this has occurred and I alwayslook behind me and make sure that I am close to the clearly defined bike laneso that nobody will do what this man did. However, this time the guy was totally out of control.
I have repeatedly asked MP Public Works to paint a MERGEsign at the Sand Hill/Santa Cruz intersection under the Buck Estateproperty. The way that it is presentlyleads people to think that there are TWOlanes leading towards PV and there have been multiple near misses.
Would you please ask Public Works to do something to make this area a little safer.
