I am writing to add my voice of encouragement to having an opening of Burgess pool with operational modifications. My experience at Burgess, as a member of the Menlo Masters, has already been one of physical social distancing most of the time, while enjoying a strong community connection as well as the physical, emotional and mental benefits of swimming exercise. I am mindful of the need for innovative measures for a swim team to operate in this thoughtful phase we are in, and I have full confidence that Menlo Swim leadership will provide that guidance and adherence. I appreciate the council’s thoughtfulness during this current pandemic. Please consider the pool as an essential activity for our community and for us as individual residents. (Also a plug for reinventing the downtown experience through closing Santa Cruz at University to Doyle.)
