Clean Energy for the Community Center in Belle Haven - a Smart Investment that will save the City money & benefit the community

Dear Mayor Combs and Council Members,
I’m writing in support of the clean energy options proposed to you this evening for the community center project in Belle Haven (item J1). This is a great opportunity to provide clean solar energy, back up battery power, EV charging, and other clean energy amenities that will benefit the community and provide future savings to the city.

For example, the staff report notes:
“The microgrid is then estimated to produce an added $6.28 million in net energy savings recouped by the city under a direct purchase scenario between the 15th year of operation up until the 30-year maximum lifetime of the system.”

I hope you’ll support a direct purchase of this clean energy equipment that will save the city over $6 million over the life of the project. Also, a great amount of work on the part of staff has gone into this project to make it as clean and sustainable as possible, while saving the city money – I’m grateful for this effort.
Warm regards,
Diane
