Dear City Council of Menlo Park, Early today I've learned that the city manager's office will propose the closure of the only early child care facility in our community. I implore you to reconsider and hear the story of Alex Mora and her children as you make decisions about our community. I was devastated to hear that something from our community will be cut. I was born and raised here, on Terminal Ave,I went to surrounding schools and everyone here knows each other. I had my daughter attended BHCDC in 2016 and it was the best experience our family could have had. Teacher Stephanie along with Teacher Dina and Teacher Teo were great teachers and to this day my daughter is always visiting them and like always were greeted with open arms from all staff!! This center is the only preschool in my area everything else being in EPA or Redwood City, where will we all go? My daughter was there for 2 years, and in those two years she went to school with people that I and my brothers grew up with. Whenever there were school events it was great to get together and see everyone and also have a chance to meet new neighbors. This center really brings together the community, when I couldn't make it to pick up I was able to have the help of other families that I know and trusted and whose child also goes to the CDC to help me and vise versa I can't tell you how big of a help this is. I now have another child and without a doubt had every intention of her attending BHCDC to have learned this really saddened me and I know many other residents will also feel the same way, a lot of families need this center for ways of means, without childcare, there is no work. Our center is important and ESSENTIAL along with all the great teachers that make it what it is. I don't even know how I would tell my daughter this will break her heart.
