Please do the right thing.  One of the reasons that Menlo Park faces such as severe shortage of affordable housing is because developers have been allowed to build new commercial space but not required to provide adequate housing for the people who will work in that space as well as other housing-needy people in Menlo Park. Quite simply, this how we got into the mess we are in right now.

I understand that the City Council is on the verge of approving the Parkline proposal which will create 1 million square feet of new office space but will add just 250 homes for low-income residents.  Didn’t we see this mistake before?

This City Council is developing the reputation for pushing forward with decisions that do not make sense AND refusing to answer questions or to explain its reasoning.  You insist that you are listening.  Perhaps this is a good time to actually hear what is being said by the people and community that elected you.

At the very least, you owe it to our community and to the people who are focused on securing affordable housing for current and future residents to explain why you are passing on the opportunity to trade office square footage for affordable family housing.
