CITY COUNCIL MEETING INPUT FOR SRI MORE HOUSING

*RESIDENTS ARE CALLING FOR MORE HOUSING & NO OFFICE SPACE*

Lane Partner’s increase of housing to 800 with 250 for low-income is much
appreciate, but how about making it an even 1,000 with 500 for low-income
housing?

*Office Space vs Housing*

Current Silicon Valley office vacancy rates stand at 21.1% to 22.3%. Menlo
Park residents are calling for *no more* offices and more affordable
housing especially housing targeting low income. Many of our teachers and
seniors are in the very low to low income levels and are struggling.

*Low Income Housing*

We encourage Lane Partners to dedicate more of the SRI Site for very low-
and low-income housing.

Market-rate developments help with the “very-low income” shortfall -
especially if developers take advantage of the Affordable Housing Overlay,
but we need developers to be more generous in contributing in this area.

Most people believe it is best to “spread out” the very low-income units,
the inclusionary zoning model is a reasonable approach. However, 100%
affordable to lower-income households receive the maximum density bonus and
benefits under the law.

Anything Lane Partners can do to contribute to decreasing our housing
crisis, will be very much appreciated by our community.
