Dear Mayor Combs, Vice Mayor Nash and members of City Council,
Nice to meet you at the Oak Knoll fall family picnic the other night, and
thank you for joining us that evening!
The approval of the Parkline project is critical and long overdue. I urge
you to approve the project and keep it moving forward. Parkline has many
benefits for Menlo Park, including:
- 800 new homes, including substantial affordable housing needed for
Menlo Park to comply with its Housing Element and avoid future Builder’s
remedy projects.
- Public recreation space for activities
- A network of safe, accessible bike lanes and pedestrian pathways
connecting key thoroughfares across the site
- Sustainable design elements that will reduce carbon footprint, boost
resiliency, and promote long-term conservation
- A 40X increase in property tax revenue from the site which benefits
the community and local public schools
For me personally, as a Menlo Park resident and mom of two young boys In
3rd and 5th grade who bike to Oak Knoll Elementary every day, the value of
safe bike lanes for students, and more public recreation space, will be
particularly impactful.
Sincerely,
Jaimi Haydel
