Dear City Council - first - a big THANK YOU for your service and dedication
to our city. I know so much of your time and talent is not compensated.
Please, please MAXIMIZE housing as much as possible at SRI - which has
unprecedented room (land and space) in Menlo Park - is close to two
elementary - upper and lower Laurel campus - and our Menlo Atherton High
School - as well as grocery, Caltrain and parks, community center and
library. We have plenty of office space in Menlo Park - much sitting
empty - especially with Facebook not filling their campus anymore with all
their layoffs and remote work. Please continue to keep office space as
part of the planned Willow Village campus, existing Facebook campus and
surrounding industrial area - where workers can get to their jobs easily
without cutting through Menlo Park.
We DO need our parking in our ONLY Downtown area which we use as a
revenue tax base for our city. When we fill our downtown parking lots with
housing - we push - people like me - to use Amazon or go to Palo Alto or
RWC where there are parking garages and I dont have to hunt for parking
spaces. Then, instead of re-investing in Menlo Park - where Id like to
shop - I will go where I can get in and out and back to work or home
quickly.
Thank you for listening to my voice. As a single working mom I dont get
to the meetings - but I vote and care deeply about Menlo Park where I have
lived for over 30 years.
