Dear City Council, We at Acterra are thrilled with Menlo Park’s Draft Climate Action Plan. Menlo Park has been and will continue to be seen as a climate leader because of the concise nature of this draft plan. It is clear that it is well researched. And best of all, the plan is actionable, focusing on highest impact areas. We urge the Council to adopt this plan. We strongly support: *The 2030 goal of zero carbon emissions puts Menlo Park at the leading edge of this transition. Other cities will surely follow. * There is foresight in the plan about how to ensure the transition away from natural gas and gasoline is equitable which is becoming a non-negotiable publicly as it has always been programmatically for Acterra and those we serve. *When used in decision making, the cost of carbon this can have a large impact on emissions from city operations. *A burn-out ordinance will serve as a model for many other cities.
