Council members, Climate change is the defining challenge of our time. As a city of means in the country’s largest state, we have an obligation to lead the way on the solution. This is not just an ecological imperative, it touches every aspect of our lives and of public policy. From economic development to social justice to mitigating future natural disasters. We must act now and we must act forcefully. Climate change is driven by human made GHG emissions. We know what we need to do to mitigate it. We need to zero out emissions as soon as we can.
