Hello Menlo Park City Council, I see that you have received a few emails about overnight parking. I see our family car was cited last night. I was given the instruction by the police department to call and email you. I did that. I would like an email or phone call back as soon as possible. I sent this email about a week ago. I hope this email will find you well and I expect an email back as soon as possible. Thank you, Megan On Sun, Aug 2, 2020 at 6:04 PM Megan Robinson Menlo Park City Council, I am new to Menlo Park. Last week, I was given a warning ticket on two of my families car for being parked on the street from two to five in the morning. I have contacted the police department, but each time I call I do not receive an adequate answers. Every time, they explain that this has been in place since 1969. While, that is great. Life is not like it was in 1969. I called the police department at 4:30pm August 2nd and around 9:00am on July 25th. Here are some of the questions that I asked that was not answered, but told to speak with a council member: If the department that works on ticketing can not answer our questions in a matter of time because of working remote, why are you allowing ticketing? This is a time sensitive manner and should be treated as so. Why are there a limited amount of passes, especially if I have to use them because that department is not able to address it on time? Why are only certain streets in Menlo Park allowed for street parking? Why are there no signs to address on-street parking in some parts of Menlo Park, but are allowed to tickets cars? I was told it is the job of our landlords, but that should not be the case if they are not the ones ticketing. I have been here for three month and was just notified about this when a ticket appeared on my car. Why is the contact number the police department for questions and concerns but, they seem to have limited knowledge on ticketing? Why was my grandmother’s car with a handicap plate ticketed? Why is difficult to obtain a parking permit, but easy to be ticketed? Where did the price for the annual parking permit come from and how does it go to benefit our city? Has there been any conversation about working with apartment complexes to address on-street parking? Why do you have to qualify for a parking permit? I am allotted one parking spot meanwhile I have a roommate and also my elderly grandparents visit sometime in order for me to take care of their needs. I read the history and purpose of the ordinance, but I can see who it is an inconvenienced for and I hope you will too. I left a voicemail as well, if you would like to give me call my phone number is (916)517-6280 I hope this email finds you well. Thank you, Megan Robinson Received on Sat Aug 08 2020 - 09:31:25 PDT
