Dear CSC members and City Transportation Staff, liaison Councilman Combs, and members of City Council. I was very excited to receive Kevin Chen's email with the prospect of having a crosswalk on Willow Road, but it stated Nash OR Blackburn? I'd like to submit my request it be considered at BOTH areas. Thank you all for your work up to this point. In a previous email sent to the City Council, having crosswalks dictates there are pedestrians and from a driver's perspective, one tends to be more aware of their surroundings and speed, e.g., Coleman/Santa Monica. Kuddos, humongous safety difference for all the residents on Coleman!! Willow Road classified as an arterial street - When I looked up the definition for an arterial road, the images and explanations are more aligned with what El Camino Real, Sandhill Road, or Woodside Road is. Can it be clarified, why is Willow Road from Middlefield to Gilbert defines as such when Willow Road from Alma to Middlefield not? Willow Road from Alma to Middlefield is a mixed road with businesses but considered residential? Can you tell me how can a residence petition to change the classification or declassify Willow Road from Blackburn to Gilbert for what it really is, a residential road? Starting from 143/152 Willow Road from Blackburn to Gilbert resides approximately 62 single residential homes. This committee should be aware of speed bumps made for emergency vehicles like those on Marmona Avenue? They could be implemented thoughtfully. Finally, what are Menlo Park City plans to tackle the problem of unsafe streets with 24/7 illegal speeding on Willow Road? I hope everyone knows this is an ongoing problem and we need help with more calming permanent measures in place. If a street is considered an arterial street, shouldn't it still be a safe street? Who knows? If Willow Road is being respectfully driven at 25 mph, the commuters may take it to University Avenue instead. Palo Alto has done a great job averting a lot of the Sandhill Road traffic to Menlo Park. Respectfully, Alice Hom Below are YouTube videos I made for your viewing perspective of real traffic on Willow Road: Willow Road Traffic https://youtu.be/Am2Y5USzjBM > Our Driveway view https://youtu.be/WlOlQYdE-zg > 40 seconds https://youtu.be/1rlkO_69pfA > 18 seconds https://youtu.be/jlykCCuHNZc > 16 seconds https://youtu.be/Ym_UyziPakU > Received on Wed Aug 12 2020 - 17:14:50 PDT
