Hi Cat – it’s a state restriction not a City restriction.

Dear Members of City Council-

I am writing to inquire on the status and future of youth sports. I know you can appreciate the difficulty of keeping kids home from school (and inside these past weeks). Youth sports, all outdoors, are a welcome respite.

However, right now, teams are only able to run very restricted practices on city fields. For instance, our son's soccer team arranges kids in lined boxes on the field. Because they can't share equipment, they can only do drills on their own, inside their small boxes. Considering the risk level of this activity and comparing it to activities that are allowed by the city, is it possible to reconsider the city's stance? It would mean a lot for children to be able to play together, even if it just means passing the ball!
I beg you to consider children's mental health as you make these decisions.

Sincerely,
Sara Leslie
