Dear Menlo Park City Council,
I am writing to reiterate our familys support for the proposed housing on
the downtown parking lots.
Regarding Agenda Items J2 and J3, I ask that the city council commission a
report to study the impacts of the ballot measure. Menlo Park voters should
be aware of what the consequences would be, and how our citys Housing
Element would be at risk, if this ordinance is adopted.
Our children attend the neighborhood parish school, and many of their
classmates families make the commute to Menlo Park because they cannot
afford to live closer. I know families who live as far as San Mateo, and
some who cross the bridge from Newark, who make the choice to come to Menlo
Park for our exceptional parochial school. By building more
housing—especially affordable housing—more of our childrens classmates
families will be able to move closer, thereby creating a stronger, more
vibrant, and more inclusive community.
