All districts in Menlo Park have to provide housing as mandated by the state. If housing is not build on the parking lots then where in district 4? Understandably, no housing in district 1. District 5, no opportunity sites? If no housing sites in district 4 other than the parking lots two districts, 2 and 3, carry the load of housing. No one knows if buildings on the parking lots will be good or bad. I would like to see the opponents of building on the parking lots embrace the opportunity to make the housing the best it can possibly be. Support businesses during design, planning and while construction is underway.
If the state calls foul and a builders remedy is a result, or worse this will be on those implementing a petition and those who signed it. Two districts cannot carry all the required housing.
