Dear Council Members
I wanted to write a note to say how lucky I feel to own a home and live in Menlo Park. I had lunch downtown on Santa Cruz Ave today. We sat on one of the lovely outside seating areas that have been created there. With everything that has happened because of Covid, I am proud to live in a community that has supported their local businesses during this time. Whenever I go downtown, I notice how vibrant the outdoor seating for our restaurants is. The owners have done an excellent job pivoting during this trying time. It seems to me the street closures along Santa Cruz Ave. have been especially helpful to their endeavors. I would think you might want to consider making them permanent. Also, more outdoor events like the new French Market would be great to help bring more people downtown. Covid has brought great challenges, but also opportunities for new ideas to revitalize our downtown. I’m hoping you continue to support these new ideas and innovations.
