Re: Willow Oaks park baseball field safety concerns

Hello,

Thanks for contact me back to let me know you would be talking to the city about the dogs off leash on school property. This issue has not been resolved and my community of parents would like to know your progress in the issue what steps have been taken and what steps are next in your planning of resolving the issue. Thanks for the update, in advance.

Best,

To whom it may concern,

I am a concerned Menlo Park community member who utilizes the field at Willow Oaks park to allow my 3 year old to run and play. I want to bring it to your attention that there has been conflict between off leash dog owners and parents on a number of occasions and I have had to call the police over 30 times, due to this concern. A German Sheppard dog ran down my daughter while she was running through the baseball field near Silicon Valley International School. The next day the dog owner was out with the dog off leash again. When asked to leash the dog they refused and started verbally attacking me when I was with my 3 year old. This has happened daily between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM and then from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. In the evening hours there are around 15 off leash dogs. In the morning it is 5-10 dogs off leash. I bring this up because it is a safety issue and it is occurring on Ravenswood School District Property. I have brought the issue to Mayor Combs, Parks and Recreation Commission, City Council and the Chief of Police. They state it is Ravenwood School District property and that it why I am writing to your organization. I implore you to please keep our small children safe on school property. We just want to be able to walk to school without fear of being attacked by dogs or their owners.

A concerned parent of the community in which you serve.
