As someone who now suffers from much reduced light in my house, and much less privacy in my garden, I believe the height and lot requirements for new homes, and ADUs are much too much! (New homes were built on both sides of my house 2018-2020, and now in 2021, two huge, boxy ADUs overlooking the back of my backyard - see attached pic.)
Please consider requiring at least the 5’ setback from property lines for ADUs, and certainly for houses! (I don’t believe the house on my north follows the rules, as there was some sort of surveying *mistake* that got approved by the building department. I had to pay my own surveyor to find out it was wrong.)
And also please consider lowering the daylight plane from 45 degrees to 30 degrees, and lowering the current 28 feet tall to something more modest, that also fits more in our lovely old-fashioned neighborhoods!
And finally, please consider adding this topic to Council's goal setting agenda at the meeting to be held soon.
Thanks sincerely for working to make Menlo Park more livable again for my other neighbors - It is too late for my house!

my property begins directly to the back of this PG&E wooden connection post to the right - that is my vine on my fence, and my Bay tree visible at the far right side of the pic, where the awning for their new front door is barely visible - it’s actually closer than it looks here!
