The Painting continues to be identified as stolen property on law enforcement databases (see below); art galleries, dealers and appraisers throughout California and the U.S. have been furnished information as to its status as stolen property; the Painting has been registered on international art loss databases as stolen property and this information is available to anyone who seeks to determine whether specific objects have been reported stolen or missing, thereby enhancing the chances for recovery. It would therefore, be virtually impossible for the Painting to be transacted by anyone, including heirs, in the legitimate art world.

Additionally, if anyone provides information which leads to the recovery of the Painting, then that assistance could be a mitigating factor if legal proceedings are initiated against those involved in what the insurance company describes as the "mysterious disappearance" of the Painting.
