Mayor Combs and City Council,
I enthusiastically support the Downtown Parking Plazas Citizens’ Initiative.
Menlo Park’s downtown, quite simply, depends on the access provided by the
parking plazas. A decision to repurpose those lots should be made by the
residents who use them - not by outside consultants. I not only live in
Menlo Park but work right in the area you wish to build/destroy. I think
its appalling and short sighted to not have this housing built in other
Menlo Park locations that wont change, or debilitate small businesses like
me who need the already packed parking lots and this location to operate.
Whether Council adopts the ordinance outright, places it on the November
ballot, or calls a special election, it will be a great day for democracy
in Menlo Park.
