Hello Council Members,
As a long-time resident of Suburban Park, I'm quite concerned about the lack of community outreach you have done as you consider rezoning the Ravenswood District lot adjacent to our neighborhood.
Since we bought our home in 2004, there have been neighborhood conversations about the blind curves, cars driving too fast through our narrow streets, vehicles parking to block sidewalks (forcing pedestrians and cyclists to be in the middle of the street), and other traffic concerns.
Adding single-point access to a 4-story apartment complex will impact all of these concerns exponentially.
I invite all of you to spend some time in our neighborhood. Drive through our Suburban Park streets and turn onto Bay Road multiple times between 7:30-8am with all the kids biking to school/crossing to the bus stop and the sun coming through the trees at a blinding angle. Then imagine that traffic load and number of kids quadrupled. Do this again between 2:45pm-3:45pm. Spend a Saturday morning driving circles through the neighborhood watching the kids playing and biking in the streets and cringing as cars do their best to maneuver around them. Our neighborhood's infrastructure is currently bursting at the seams and is not built for the heavy traffic load your rezoning considerations will demand.
Please do not fast-track this project. You MUST consider your constituents and our very real traffic safety concerns.
Thank you,
Amy Heinz
