WATER WELLNESS PROGRAM

None of the past participants in Sheralee Beebe’s Water Wellness program (of whom I am aware) have been kept informed as to the status of the program that has been shut down for two years, despite frequent inquiries, and despite the fact that all the other programs have been reinstated. Sheralee’s classes were well attended, popular and catered to elderly and disabled residents who found the warm water, gentle exercises helpful for their ailments, and beneficial to their state of mind.

Now it turns out that, without any apparent notice to past participants: even those who specifically sought such information, Tim Sheeper has contracted the program out to Revolutions in Fitness Inc. which specializes in rehab therapy for Olympic athletes and The primary instructor is to be Juliet St. Germain who has a Ph.D. in Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University.

Not only that but :

a. The classes are to be held twice/week for $119/month, whereas the prior cost for seniors was $69/month. (After the first year he cost goes up to $199/month according to the contract.)

b. Participants have to sign a lengthy contract (below) This https://mail.yahoo.com/d/folders/1/messages/AFCy03xld4vBYhZQ1QSAWERaVyc?guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly9hdHQteWFob28uYXR0Lm5ldC8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAD9R_5tG4uJ304lZtsZTAioYTl9FKGznguwLGbGpvzq-Zg1_JSMHIxJz0vAXNY3W1lopy5XfWT8pWSpCZVM5bNGPBrL5tndJJq2APimMR63euK6uYj0xUZLQ5QS_EouzkDe3yJEoTIhnD1_ErKmHHdA1uxLfmI7p0K0E0SxTq9Ee

c. Participants are asked to release their medical records which can be used even for marketing and fund raising activities and to students in their practice. According to the contract they even have the right to contact your physician whose name you have to provide.

d. According to the contract participants are required to inform the company of all medical conditions, treatments, medications and also to notify them if they are under the influence of drugs, alcohol blood thinners etc.

e. Participants are required to provide a credit card and payment is automatically deducted

f. Any cancellation has to be made by the 15th of the prior month

g. The site offers a free week trial period but in order to take advantage of that you still have to fill out the contract and provide a credit card.

This is NOT what the elderly and disabled members of the community want. They were never asked for input, and they were never informed as to Sheeper’s plans. This is a further indication of the path that Sheeper is taking: the community pool is being taken over by Team Sheeper. Two of the current instructors of the existing Aquacise program are ardent Ironman/triathlete adherents. One has an M.D. and the other is a Physical Therapist. However, this program runs I believe 4 days/week for $78/month or $70 for seniors. It is patently obvious that the old and very popular Wellness classes have been obliterated and replaced with a program designed for elite athletes such as those in Team Sheeper. It is totally outrageous that there has been no notification to past participants. This is blatant age/disability discrimination and a further indication that the city no longer has any control over what happens at the city pool.
