Dear members of the council,
I am an entrepreneur and an adjunct professor at Stanford and this year
I will be a 30 year resident of the Sharon Triangle (at 2041 Sharon Road),
and I love our neighborhood dearly.
We are two blocks from a nationally recognized school, a cozy little
business hub on Avy and Alameda, and surrounded on all sides by
incorporated Menlo Park.
Since we started talking about annexation at least a dozen homes have been
fully rebuilt and sold at values many multiples of the previous homes, and
another 6-7 new homes added (through parcel division) and Ive always
wondered why the city wouldnt want to benefit from that increased tax base.
I know the Atherton police who frequent our Avy starbucks much better than
the San Mateo Sheriffs Office, who almost never have bandwidth to come by
our block. Sidewalks on our street would greatly improve the safety of
students and other pedestrians making their way to La Entrada middle school
and beyond. My life is directly affected by city policy, but I have not had
a voice in any of it for 30 years now.
It is time for the city to bring our neighborhood into city limits, to the
benefit of us all.
