Dear Menlo Park City Council,
The Safe Routes to School team at the San Mateo Office of Education has created an E-Bike Collaborative to address issues related to youth e-bike safety. Some of the aims of this collaborative include distinguishing e-bikes from e-motos, developing clear messaging for families, refining school safety policies, and strengthening student safety training.
Youth e-bike safety in San Mateo County cannot be organized and maintained by one school or one city working alone. This issue is multifaceted and requires support from schools, school districts, law enforcement, local government, and other community partners. Your attendance is requested at the next E-Bike Committee meeting on 2/10 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at 101 Twin Dolphin Drive, RWC. Your voice and support for the Menlo Park City School District team would be invaluable. The other members of the MPCSD team look forward to your collaboration, including Kristen Gracia (MPCSD Superintendent), Andrew Dinh (Hillview Middle School Assistant Principal), and Petra Reyes (MPCSD Safe Routes to School Coordinator).
