Dear City Council,
If none of the proposals can guarantee the 565 existing spaces be replaced then there is no reason to accept any of the proposals. Residents of Menlo Park and nearby cities use the downtown parking lots when they come to use the businesses in the downtown area. These businesses provide tax revenue to the city which allows the city to provide services to the residents. If the parking is reduced/eliminated the residents of Menlo Park and nearby cities will not come, causing tax revenue to decrease, some businesses to fail causing more tax revenue to decrease. Please explain what services will be cut now before deciding to proceed. If you won’t explain which specific services to be cut then you only have one option to not accept any of the proposals. This is called accountability and if the council can’t be held accountable for poor decisions the ballot measure will pass to make sure a plan which will fail Menlo Park will not happen.
