Dear Mayor Nash and City Council members,
Since you’re planning an open house featuring the three developers that submitted proposals for the parking lot housing plan, I urge you to make it a requirement for them to bring detailed professional scale models of their proposed projects to that meeting.
Scale models that depict Santa Cruz Avenue from University Drive to El Camino, including all the cross-streets between Santa Cruz Ave. and Oak Grove, and that show our current single story buildings with the multistory housing projects placed into the parking lots, will make these projects visually clear to our residents and business owners. We deserve no less.
Architects and developers know that scale models are by far the most effective way to accurately present their projects to the public.
This is especially true in our case, since most of our buildings downtown are one-story and our parking lots stand between rows of these single-story buildings.
Residents and business owners deserve to see what these development projects will look like as realistically as possible, which is never shown in developers typical pretty pastel watercolors with semi-translucent building facades, feathery greenery and children playing on patches of grass in the foreground.
Sincerely,
Cherie Zaslawsky
