As of a short while ago, we have swapped the organics bin for a new one (removed the one that was on site) and serviced garbage and recycling. However, the green bin was not serviced for over two months. As a direct result of this lapse in service, a significant fruit fly infestation developed. There was a giant swarm of fruit flies that’s been growing in the compost bin by the guest parking lot, and when that was opened yesterday when the garbage truck came, they all came out but many are still lingering around by out patio in the 5-plex. They carry bacteria and it’s gross and a nuisance and we can’t use our patio. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this in the future?
