NEALON PARK PARKING: KEEP BACK SPACES FOR LITTLE HOUSE
The back lot at Nealon Park is specifically reserved, AND POSTED, for Little House M-F until3 p.m. However, it is used by tennisplayers, dog walkers, and people using the children’s playground. The other day I saw a couple using walkerswho appeared to be in their late 80s or in their 90s who were struggling to getto their cars at the far end of the lot: a block away from Little House becauseall the closer parking had been preempted by young people too lazy to walk fromthe street, where there were empty spaces. This seems tohappen every time I visit.
In addition to parents etc) being selfish and entitled, is not safe sincekids do not always stay by their parents and wander into the driving lane. Kids cannot be seen by drivers, especiallywhen cars are backing out, or if the kids dart across the driving lane.
It is not unreasonable to restrict parking until 3 p.m. afterwhich kids are out of school and parents are off work.
Menlo Park has a multitude of programs and facilities forkids and young people but absolutely NOTHINGthis side of the freeway for seniors aside from PVI’s facilities. The City has spent millions realigning MiddleAve and removing all parking for the benefit of cyclists: of whom I have only EVERseen three, two of which ran the stop signs.
Bigger NO PARKING SIGNS required, and some enforcement.
Remember it is usually seniors who vote most consistently
