Hi Justin, and honorable City Council.
This project should never be approved. It’s located in an area that floods.
1. It reminds me of the World Trade Center in NYC that collapsed when two hijacked planes flew into them. (My father was the structural engineer of the WTC. What a time in our lives.)
2. It probably similarly affects nearby Palo Alto properties.
3. For such reasons I dont believe that the project is viable nor insurable.
4. To the extent that the project devalues nearby homes, that can be considered a ’taking’ for which compensation to the affected homeowners and businesses may be warranted and sought.
5. It also needs appropriate traffic studies. Willow is already backed up; as are portions of Middlefield. I recall that we once had a policy that impacts of development should be spread across districts. 100 units in District 3 > 100 units in District 5.
