City Ordinance No. 11.24 Stopping – Standing – Parking is a rule Menlo Park
agreed to through all of the proper channels for democratic decision making
about how the city operates. In March 2025, collectively, we decided that
its in the best interest of Menlo Park to prohibit parking a vehicle at
any time between the hours of 2 – 5 a.m. in a public parking lot, including
parking lots serving parks and recreation facilities. Enforcement for that
decision officially began on June 15, 2025. People expect that when we
decide on rules, we will enforce them consistently and in a timely manner.
Despite ongoing public reporting of a vehicle encampment in Burgess Park
(see 5 attached reports over many months), nothing is changing about the
situation. Multiple members of the public are respectfully using the
advised channel (ACT Menlo Park) to report a clear and ongoing violation —
why is nothing getting done? At minimum a progress report and timeline for
resolution could be shared.
