Honorable Council Members
Last week the play area at Burgess was inaugurated with the exuberant toddlers of Menlo Park. This is wonderful - except that then play structures are placed directly against the tennis court fence. If you have ever watched a tennis match, you know that players seek at least some level of quiet, particularly for serves. This odd mix of exuberant screaming and studied tennis serves is not ideal.
Since the planning stage that might have considered the conflict (but didn’t) is long past, we need a patch, as we say in the Valley. Fortunately, Atherton has recently addressed noise along a tennis court fence at Holbrook Palmer. Please ask staff to consider the installation of acoustic barrier along that side of court 1. Time is a factor here.
On the subject of tennis courts, I submitted photos of the cracked and weed-filled courts to Azalea back in April. Regrettably, I have not heard anything, so am suggesting that you also direct staff to separately look at resurfacing the courts.
Respectfully,
Henry Riggs
