Residents in Stanford Weekend Acres and Ladera are very frustrated by the closure of the path between Alpine Road and Sand Hill Road, and the fact that they cannot get any information from Menlo Park as to what, if anything, is planned to restore passage through to Sand Hill. It is obviously a very complicated issue that involves multiple local, State and Federal agencies and at least two jurisdictions. It is understandable that Menlo Park wants to warn people of dangers, but it is less understandable why nobody can get relevant information as to future plans. I went to every meeting over the years about the Stanfords changes to Sand Hill and Alpine. For the benefit of people who are new to the subject, I have tried to outline the events of the past 30+ years involving Stanfords impact on this area, none of which has been positive. Attached are my notes of the history of the path, and a few photos of the very eroded and dangerous path. This path was specifically negotiated by Larry Horton of Stanford and constructed for Stanford Weekend Acres residents to replace their demolished path. It was NOT made as a convenience for high speed cyclists. It is gradually eroding into the creek.
