Dear City Council,
Since the implementation of speed bumps on Middle Avenue, my
street--College Avenue--has seen an increase in speeding cars. We are a
narrower street than Middle, and my section of College Avenue does not have
sidewalks to help keep children and pedestrians safe. When the city decided
to make major changes to just a few of Menlo Parks main streets (Middle
Ave, Santa Cruz, etc.), there didnt seem to be consideration given to the
spillover effect on adjacent streets.
Please consider implementing, at a minimum, "Slow Streets" measures to help
keep our residents safe. College Avenue is a narrower street with more
children playing basketball and riding bikes. We desperately need something
to slow down these speeders.
I am begging you to implement safe solutions for neighboring streets like
mine.
