Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,
This summer we have experienced loud, disruptive noise from Stanford’s Frost Amphitheater.
Greg Tanaka, Palo Alto City Council member posted a message about this on NEXTDOOR, which I just received this evening.
He suggests that Stanford/Frost is under the jurisdiction of Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.
I am hoping that you Menlo Park Council Members are able to contact Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors about this issue.
I and many others have already contacted various people and offices at Stanford.
Here is my summary of the problem, as I just replied on NEXTDOOR to Greg Tanaka:
Thanks for your interest in this issue.
I dont think anyone wants to prohibit people from enjoying concerts, but there does seem to be a problem with loud amplified sound coming from Frost Amphitheater to certain areas. Personally, I live more than 2 miles from Frost. On the evenings of June 22 and June 23, I did not hear music, but loud amplified bass notes reverberated through our house, and this happened to quite a few people in certain areas (Flood Triangle area, Vintage Oaks, the Willows, and several others, as far away from the amphitheater as 4 or 5 miles). I believe that part of the problem is that the speakers at Frost are pointed toward these areas, and also that there must be some adjustments that should be made to Frost’s sound system, particularly the amplification of bass notes.
Sincerely,
Anne K. Kanerva.
