Dear Council,
I am writing to urge you to support the effort to develop affordable housing for teachers and staff at the former Flood School site.
I understand that there are issues with this particular site. Ingress and egress through the adjacent neighborhood seems to be the biggest sticking point. I urge you to work collaboratively with the neighborhood, the Ravenswood District, the County and the Haven House property to come up with a solution to avoid turning Hedge Road or other neighborhood streets into busy thoroughfares.
If access could be obtained through the County park, that would be highly ameliorative. If the County won't sell the land or permit access, perhaps it would consider a land swap? The County could take over the Flood school site in exchange for a portion of the existing park along Bay Road, for example.
The neighborhood has real concerns but I think an effective solution could and should be found.
